Sewa Projects
Project work
Every year, my school assigns students to work on projects that help them learn new things about the topic, showcase their interests, and enhance their research skills. It also helps students to learn to take responsibility, manage time better, work under the pressure of deadlines, and improve their writing skills.
Last year during the summer break we were given 14 topics to choose from and work on 3 projects, I chose:
1. Cleanliness in home
I gained insight on how important it is to keep the nearby surrounding clean. I learned to help my parents, by helping them with small chores like dusting the tea table or cleaning the glass windows weekly. Cleanliness saves us from several diseases and increases longevity. Researching the benefits of having your surroundings clean definitely encouraged me, even more, to keep not only my own house clean but also other places like the school classroom, and parks I go down to stroll every evening, malls, and markets because small acts like this won't only help to keep oneself healthy but would also improve the aesthetics of the place and will encourage into living a better lifestyle. Thus, it encouraged me to keep my surroundings more sanitary through small acts like throwing wrappers in a dustbin and not just in a corner of a room, when outside making sure I do the same and spreading awareness among my friends as well. We all should understand the motto, importance, and necessity of cleanliness and must try to apply it in our daily lives
2. Community service
This project exposed me to the lack of basic education amongst the poor students in India with whom I interacted. As part of my project, I conducted various sessions in Science by interacting with the students via online meetings. Seeing the response back from the kids with so much excitement and enthusiasm to learn more about the topic, was definitely gave a kick to my morale. We learned that it is not the lack of interest but the lack of opportunities that was the root cause behind this issue. This project taught me to cooperate and work in a team. It also helped me in improving time management skills. Learning that more than 60 % of the population is deprived of basic educational facilities in India has made me want to work further on this issue and make a difference.
3. Gardening activities
